In the northwestern suburb of the fortress, on a flattened plateau above the bed of the Bregalnica River, at the site known as Stara Klanica, within a walled area, lie the foundation remains of a small medieval church from the 14th century, known from medieval records as the Church of Saint Vlasie. The church was single-nave, with a dome and painted in Cyrillic script. Part of the fresco fragments, where Cyrillic letters can be identified, indicate that the church was painted. Around the church, a larger medieval necropolis has been recorded. More than 50 grave structures have been discovered, researched, and documented.
To the east and southeast of the church, there is a necropolis with registered finds characteristic of the Late Bronze–Early Iron Age, the Roman period, and this church as well. Finds typical of Macedonian-Hellenistic artifacts from the 3rd–2nd centuries BCE have also been recorded. Ceramic vessels, cups, bowls, inventory items, and more have been discovered. A characteristic find is a bronze pyramid-shaped earring decorated with rows of intertwined silver wire ending in loops, typical of the 10th and 11th centuries.
