The church “St. Dimitrija Solunski” is located at the entrance to the city of Shtip from the direction of Radovish, on the right-hand side at the very entrance to Novo Selo.
Before the construction of the church, this site was occupied by the well-known park Yavor, a symbol of Novo Selo and a cultural gathering place where residents met for many years during the summer.
The park was demolished, and on August 1, 2012, the construction of the church “St. Dimitrija Solunski” began. The church is dedicated to the well-known Macedonian ruler from the 4th century, and it was consecrated in November 2024 by the Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia, g.g. Stefan. The church is richly decorated with frescoes and a large number of icons of the saint and other saints.
In memory of their symbol, park Yavor, the residents of Novo Selo created a small park across from the Museum of VMRO, which also bears the name Yavor.
