NI Institute and Museum Shtip

The NI Institute and Museum – Shtip was established on 10 May 1950. The initial exhibition was housed in the Husa-Medin Pasha Mosque, and since 1956 the museum has been located in the Arsovi House. Over the years, the institution has expanded with significant exhibition spaces: the Bezisten Art Gallery (1964), the Icon Gallery in Novo Selo (1972), as well as the archaeological exhibition in the Anevci–Gochevi House. In 1979, the institution gained the status of an Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and a People’s Museum, and today it operates as a museum complex comprising three buildings. It also includes the Museum of VMRO in Shtip and the Shtip Region (opened in 2014), the Bezisten Art Gallery, and the Memorial House of Slavcho Stojmenski.
